Its kite flying season.
Look at this girl on the cover of this book,
her name is Grace.
Look,she has a really beautiful Dragon kite,
you know what?
She and her family made this kite all by themselves.
Now lets read this book
and learn how to make and fly a kite.

To make a kite,the most important things we need
are paper and wooden sticks.
But we also need a whole lot of other things.
We use bamboo to make a whistle or a noise maker,
we use sandpaper to polish the bamboo and wooden sticks,
we use a small saw like this
to cut the bamboo and wooden sticks.
Here are some joining tubes.
We use them to join the sticks to make a frame,
we use a ruler for measuring or drawing straight lines,
we need a pair of scissors to cut the paper,
we use tape and glue to hold the paper and sticks together.
做风筝,我们需要的最重要的东西
是纸和木棍。
但我们还需要很多其他的东西。
用竹子做哨子或者发音器,
用砂纸打磨竹子以及木棍,
我们用这种小锯子切竹子和木棍。
这是一些连接管。

Look,Grace and her family are in a shop.
They are buying the materials and tools they need
to make a kite.
There are wooden sticks,paint brushes,glue
a roll of tape and some paint.
They seem to have found everything they need in the store.
听着,格蕾丝和她的家人在一家商店里。
他们正在购买材料和工具来做风筝。

Then its time to go home.
Grace and her sisters are really excited.
They cant wait to go back home and start making the kite.

Look at everyones hair and look at the plant.
The wind is blowing.
Its a good day for kites.

The wind can carry the kite high into the air.
Mom joins the sticks together.
She makes a cross first,which is part of the frame.
My sister and I are helping mom.
The frame is done.We put it on the paper.

Dad glues the paper,then we turn in the edges.

Jie-Jie paints a laughing mouth.
She does it with a paint brush and some paint.
Look!Shes doing so good.

I add Dragon eyes to the kite.
Look how beautiful they are!

The kite is almost done.
We all help attach the noise maker.
Its a whistle made of bamboo.

Then we take our Dragon kite to the park.
The wind is blowing.Its perfect for flying kites.
Hey!Dragon.Are you ready to fly?

Now its the most exciting part.
I hold the spool.Dad holds up the kite for me.
Then he lets go of the kite.
As I let out more and more lines,
it gets more stable and much higher too.
Look up!Our Dragon is talking to the wind.
